Hitachi "Peggy" WH-817 3 Band Transistor Radio

Hitachi "Peggy" WH-817 3 Band Transistor Radio. Japan. Covers 3.8 to 18 MC. Overall appearance is very good to excellent. No cracks, chips or significant scratches on the ivory plastic case. Telescoping antenna extends fully with no binding. Grille is excellent except for a small spot that resisted cleaning with just a damp cloth and a small dent on left edge. Front panel and markings are excellent except for a little dirt. Dial is excellent. The brownish plastic back is very good. Coin slot is very good. Label inside is very good. Chassis, 3 of the battery contacts and both battery sleeves are clean. The 4th battery contact, a spring, shows some corrosion but is solid. It easily slides out of position for cleaning. My shop is in a very poor AM reception area, this radio picks up stations all up and down the broadcast dial better than 99% of radios I've tested here. The band selector switch however is very dirty, I had to play with it to find a spot that worked. Once I found the spot it stayed there. Unable to get a spot in either SW band that would stay there long enough to find a station. Sold as-is for parts or restoration. Requires 3 C cells (not included). Approximate size 8"W, 1.95"D, 4.78"H. Item #9968
